Keith Andes “Akuta” passed away

Keith Andes, […] has passed away at the age of 85; he was found dead in his L.A. home on November 11th.

The cause of Andes’ death was cited by coroners as asphyxiation. Sadly, the performer had been struggling with bladder cancer and other maladies. [broadwayworld]

‘Karate Kid’ star Pat Morita ‘Mr. Miyagi’ passed away

The Karate Kid star Pat Morita has died at his Las Vegas home. He was 73. The actor and comedian, whose portrayal of Mr. Miyagi in the 1984 movie earned him an Oscar nomination, passed away on Thursday of natural causes, according to his wife of 12 years Evelyn.

The actor who played Captain Kirk on the popular telly show Star Trek, William Shatner, has just passed a kidney stone and plans to flog it on eBay. The actor says that the stone will become the “ultimate piece of Star Trek memorabilia” and he will flog it for charity.

Space.com’s Top 10 Space Movies of All Time

Space.com has posted a Top 10 Space Movies of All Time list based on reader ratings on each movie. Apollo 13 is currently the #1 movie, followed by Star Trek: First Contact at #2, and Wrath of Khan at #3. I was surprised by Apollo 13 at #1, since I initially equated space movies with sci-fi. However, I don’t disagree with it. What do other Slashdotters think, or suggest as good space movies?”
